Locals call it the Thousand-Year Tree of Concá, and while there are no exact records of its age, it is believed to be over 1,000 years old. Next to the Mission of Concá—one of five baroque masterpieces built by Junípero Serra in the 18th century—this towering specimen is more than a tree; it’s a sacred ahuehuete (Taxodium mucronatum).
